Spiderman Art Auction (source: Newsarama)

Just got the 411 from the Hero Initiative of some interesting news:

Artist Josh Medors has been struggling with cancer for awhile, with groups like the Hero Initiative and BOOM! Studios helping whenever it could. But this story is even more amazing: Josh’s condition has brought a new artist into the fold — his 10-year-old son, Garth. Garth’s favorite artist is David Finch, and so when his father was able to obtain a printed blue line of Spider-Man, Garth began what hopefully will be a long stretch of inking.

So the story continues: Garth’s first instinct: to put the art online to benefit his father’s cause. “This is the first time Garth has showed any interest in art,” Josh wrote the Hero Initiative. “After Garth finished inking the piece he came to me and said ‘Mom I want to put it up for auction to help Dad fight his cancer.’” You can check it out here — but if there’s a Right Reason for art… this is it.

Effing EBAY! @#&^%^%$@@^#!

For some reason, the all mighty Powers That Ebay decided my account was associated with some other ID which has been shut down; therefore, my account was suspended. Luckily, it appears that my order for theatrical white makeup has already gone through and shipped. Why? Because I pay as soon as I "buy it now" or win a bid. I think I'm a damn good customer and a decent seller. I have sold things at a loss because I donate portions of sales to charities which is a service through ebay that has a $5 minimum. I'd say that's pretty damn nice of me.

If anyone has ever had some sort of issue which they believed was with me, please let me know! I have one ebay ID (scotchbroom) and one email account associated with it (njcabot at yahoo dot com). If you believed you were dealing with me and screwed, contact me and ebay.

I realize the ebay interface for contacting them is not the most user-friendly but please do what you can if this involved you.

I will be continuing to grow my shop through Etsy since they have opened up to vintage items as well as home made. I don't know if things like beanie babies are considered vintage though. I'm always open to conducting private sales through Pay Pal and avoiding all the fees anyway.

Ebay Sales: Wizard of Oz

I have continued the major gleaning of my house and came across a couple of Bradford Exchange plates from the MGM Wizard of Oz collection. I had them listed on ebay years ago and for some reason two of them didn't sell. I still have the Tin Man and the Scarecrow. I have relisted them on ebay and have set 10% of the proceeds to go to Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation.

Now - as for ebay - there is no minimum bid however even sales with 10% going to a charity have a minimum to pay to the charity which is $5. So I would really appreciate the best offers possible on these plates.

Both plates are listed as separate sales. They are in their original boxes and have all original paperwork including the important Certificates of Authenticity.

Pop Culture Sale - Rogue costume up for bids

I'm cleaning out my house looking for collectibles I'm willing to part with. Even though it pains me, I am not getting as much paid work as I need so I have made the decision to sell some of my treasures.

I've already listed most of my Beanie Babies on eBay along with all of my Barbies which breaks my heart. I love Barbie. Anyway, I'm also listing my first comic book costume which was Rogue from Marvel's X-Men. It's also the only costume in my closet that I didn't personally make. I figure that when things get financially better, I'll be able to make one for myself in the future.

This suit was originally made for me by an anime cosplay designer. It's not dead-on perfect as a copy of Rogue. But with a jacket an accessories, it works really well. If you need accessories, my skill levels have developed quite a bit as have my contacts with other designers so feel free to contact me with questions on making this a complete outfit. (Needed accessories: headband, wig, yellow boots, belt, jacket and gloves).

A portion of all my eBay sales will go to the Safe Haven Rabbit Rescue which is why I've got slightly higher starting bids than other sellers. I feel that giving a portion to charity is very important.

This Rogue costume is one of a kind and definitely something that you'll love wearing. It brings out the feisty Southern girl in all of us.
