NYCC 2010

If you find any pics of me out there please let me know. I feel like I didn’t get out much to be photographed but honestly, staying at a booth makes the convention so much less exhausting than walking around. I love having a base camp. So because I rarely wandered more than a few feet from the booth, I was surprised when a facebook friend said I was on Mania.com again this year.


I have a really long recap of each day at AmberUnmasked.com. The bottom line is I have a few moments of fear and panic but they were outweighed by all the great fun with my friends.

NYCC Day 3

It's 10pm and I'm still uploading photos. They haven't even been edited in any way. I have a couple of videos to work on. That will be for tomorrow when I skip pilates - yeah, all weekend on my feet 2 days of which were heels - I can skip a workout.

I got to choke hold Amanda Conner again; got interviewed; watched my friends eat the dirty water hot dogs on a dare; and best of all met & interviewed Amber Benson who I believe is one of the most beautiful women on the planet and sweet as can be in person.

I'm so tired!

NYCC Day 2

After not sleeping at all Friday night, by 5pm Saturday when the Marvel costume contest ended, I was literally wiped out. I could no longer see out of the firey contacts and my feet were so beyond done with the 4" heels. We didn't stick around and got home where I fell asleep at 8pm on the couch.

It was a truly amazing day where I did in fact, get to meet up with Iceman and Spider-man!



The best part about this con - ok to be honest there were 3 "best parts" - I got to meet Seth Green, and Amber Benson; but I also knew people this time so even all the times I was separated from my party I was surrounded by people I consider friends like Belle Chere, Jerry, AddieCat and of course Jill the Nerdy Bird.


I don't have much to report in the way of news coverage; to be honest, once I met Seth Green on Saturday (and never believing I'd get to meet Amber Benson) the con was over and I was happy. I didn't care about panels, signings or anything else.

You know what my new desktop wallpaper is. Now if I only I could meet the elusive creature known by the name of Troy Hickman......

NYCC Day 2 - Firestar is ready

I'm all ready for today. I got about 45-55 minutes of sleep even though we home at a very reasonable 8:30 pm. I'm just too nervous about the potential people that I want to meet and interview.

Yesterday, I was happy to discover the theatrical contact lenses booth. I never wanted to order online because I had questions, not to mention the con prices are much better. I'm so glad I stopped by there and splurged on a treat for today's Firestar costume. I have fire contacts in. Sure, might not be comic book accurate but they look cool.

Because of the mask being the way, I actually have to use a strip of toupee tape under the front of the wig to keep it in place. I think more people will recognize me today and not confuse me for a manga or goth character. Although, now that I think about it, I guess since Rumor was created and designed by Gerard Way of My Chemical Romance, I guess she is rather goth.

See you there! Oh and it's supposed to be in the 40s today! Funny to think that's good news.

DC costume decision

I'm taking votes on what to wear for my designated "DC Comics" day during Comic Con which is Feb 6-8 in NYC. To get a glimpse of the suits check out my video.

FEARnet coverage

The FearNet.com site has been updated a lot since the NYCC. I'm in two still shots and two videos as Wonder Woman and Power Girl. Check out the Day 1 & 2 coverage. The Sweeney Todd video is eerie!

survived NYCC '08

This was the best for NYCC (mind you only the third year and my second time going). I'm rather pissed about the plans for next year already because after this wonderful and succesful April Con, the organizers have decided to move the 2009 Con back to early FEBRUARY! They are frakkin crazy!

I missed a LOT somehow including Seth Green which I'm oh so bitter about. However, we did see Blair Butler twice and stalked her. I also did my customary tormenting of DC's Bob Wayne; he got me back plenty when he saw I had changed into a Marvel costume for a contest. *guilt *

Nonetheless, here's the cool stuff I got to see:

There was this incredibly accurate Terminator costume. Luckily we caught the guy walking down a hallway. The T-shirt was even exactly right.

There were both versions of Leeloo from the Fifth Element but this costume I happen to find more impressive than the white bandage one. I just love the pants so much!

This Lois & Superman were actually at the DC booth which makes me believe they were hired. Both of them were tall and built like actors.

It's pretty hard to pick favorite costumes but I'll only base my opinions on the ones I saw in person. I've gone through a few galleries and seen other ones that I never actually saw including an impressive Chewbacca and Black Manta. To see my entire gallery, go to Photobucket. For personal faves I'd have to say something like Green Lantern Alan Scott (this man not only had a great suit but he's the size of a superhero), Static Shock (original & great to see plus he had that unfolding hover disc!), and Terminator.

I love to see lesser known/less popular characters like Domino and Spider-Woman. I wish I would have seen Belle Chere's Anna Mercury in person because I love it and issue 1 only came out a couple weeks ago. But I did see Belle as Black Cat (with black accessories at the contest) and as Spider-Woman. The Gwen Stacys were both excellent. I think it was tough to chose between them. The shorter one in the olive coat won both the Marvel contest and the Gwen look-a-like contest. I was the only one that presented myself as a Skrull and I still didn't place as a finalist.
